JokaJobs is an innovative job search platform that gamifies the process of finding a job, connecting candidates, recruiters, and volunteer "jokers" through a city map.
Job seekers including foreigners, refugees and individuals looking for service industry jobs (e.g. hospitality, customer service, retail, skilled trades, etc.)
Recruiters - Pole Emploi or individual recruiters
Joker - volunteers who want to guide other job seekers
Joka jobs platform has a unique approach to job hunting combining mobility within a serious game format. The concept was inspired by years of research conducted by Dana Diminescu, a sociologist and teacher-researcher at Télécom Paris. Hence for this course on Quantitiative UX under Panos Mavros, when we were tasked to choose a platform to perform a UX evaluation Joka Jobs immediately caught our attention. As HCI students, UX researchers, and product designers, we saw potential in the application. We believed we could help identify areas for improvement in the end-user experience through quantitative and qualitative UX evaluations. Additionally, the possibility of collaborating with Dana, the app's creator, provided valuable insights into her motivations and vision. For these reasons, we chose Joka Jobs as our evaluation target.
For our project on conducting a quantitative UX evaluation of the Joka Jobs application, we decided to narrow down our focus to the section of the app dedicated to job seekers. We made this choice because we can personally relate to the job-seeking experience and wanted to approach it with an unbiased perspective. While other aspects of the app, such as recruiters or jokers, could have been included in our scope, it would have been difficult to access such user base due to limited time and so we opted for job seekers only. This decision allows us to delve deeper into this specific user group within the project's timeline.
